Short Bio
I was born in 1981 in İzmir as the first child of my family. I completed my secondary education in Bursa and Kütahya. I was introduced to English — the language that opens the world to people — at an Anatolian high school. I studied civil engineering in Istanbul. I completed my master’s degree in the United States, focusing on transportation planning and traffic safety. My PhD is from İzmir: I focused on pedestrian movement in traffic (walkability). I also served as a lecturer in an engineering faculty. I am married and have a daughter. We live in my hometown Akçaalan (Turgutreis–Bodrum).
I realized that I am more productive when I work independently and prioritize my own initiatives. At this stage of my life, my focus revolves around research, brainstorming, developing products and services, writing, sharing, raising awareness, and seeking opportunities for action in areas I find meaningful and important.

An Important Observation
... that broadened my horizons:
While working at the Institute for Transportation at Iowa State University (USA) during my master’s studies, I witnessed how valuable active interaction between academic research and real-world practice can be—along with continuous inter-institutional collaboration, a dedicated physical setting that enables such interaction, and a team that provides comprehensive support. (I hope to write a dedicated post about this experience someday.)
